Puppies: The Whole Crew

Spot Sept23Much anticipated and highly requested…  The new puppy photos are here.  I tried to get 2-3 photos per pup with a picture of their belly too which shows off their individual markings.  When you visit the photo album the name of the puppy will be below each photo.

The updated Puppy Profile page is now online.  Visit this section to see who has a new home and who needs one.

At the end of the photo album are some group pics and the first group puppy food eating.

Puppy Visitors: Melissa and Heather

MelissaI had lots of people over this evening.. Donnie came back to see Slick and have some beverages while smoking some cigars with Lee and I..  Carrie, Melissa and Heather also came over and played with a few of the puppies.  The pups have teeth now and are fully mobile.  Flipper is still the runt but with bottle feeding he has gained some weight.

We should be moved on to puppy foods soon and I am sure Carmella will appreciate this.

Puppy Visitors: Donnie

Donnie and SlickDonnie came by this evening to pick out his new puppy.  He had been keeping up with the puppy profiles and had already narrowed his selection down to Slick or Hershey.  It was a difficult decision as both of these pups are so similar.  After a good 45min of playing with both puppies Slick chose Donnie.   It is exciting to know Slick will be Donnie’s new puppy..  I am sure both of them will be glad they “picked each other”.

Speaking of dogs, Donnie is the Big Dawg over at Ozona Bar and Grill which is Lee and my favorite casual place to have some good food and tasty beverages.  Each night they have a special that makes going to Ozona a no-brainer.   Whether it is Tuesday night burger specials or $1 drink night Thursdays, Ozona has the best outdoor patio for at least 100 miles and gets a big two thumbs up.   Visit:  www.ozonagrill.com for more info.  See you there..

New: The Doggie Door Project

Robert and Doggie DoorPart three in our multiple part series on Bonaboxer’s Cribs brings us to the Doggie Door Project.  With the help of Robert (pictured), Carmella and Vito have the luxury of a first-class doggie door.  After one hour and only 4 hotdogs Carmella is now totally doggie-door trained.  She is actually going in and out as I write this entry.  Vito, on the other hand, has been thru the door with much coaxing but I bet it will be a while before this is his favorite dog door.  The main reason for the door is for Carmella to be able to take care of the puppies and go outside when she needs to have a break.  Vito being comfortable with the door would only be a bonus.   The photo here shows Robert finishing the door security with Carmella and Vito watching from outside.  See their glowing eyes?

Update:  Vito has now been doggie-door trained and it took 10 hotdogs.  At first I thought he was not too bright since he was taking longer than Carmella to “learn” and now I am asking myself: “Does this make him smarter than Carmella or not?”  I think I have been had for 6 extra hot dogs.  Good Boy Vito!

The next project in our Bonaboxer Cribs series is the groundbreaking for the Doggie Deck which is the foundation for the The Outdoor Puppy Adventure Land

Puppy Visits: Elizabeth & Courtney

Elizabeth and CourtneyThis evening Flipper and Spot went to the Hill residence where Elizabeth and Courtney had fun feeding them and holding them while they slept.  Justin decided he could not live without Flipper so he is now set with a new home.  Flipper is one of my favorite pups.  I feed him with a bottle two times a day and have grown attached to him.  I am glad he will be with Justin and I look forward to seeing him grow up to be a great dog.

Puppy Visitors: Robert, Trista and Kristen

Rob, Trista and KristenWe had over 10 visitors today and the puppies got lots of attention.  Robert and Trista came back again to check on Spot (aka Petey) and were amazed how he has grown.  Trista’s friend Kristen made friends quickly with a few lucky pups and we went outside to take a some photos in the nice weather.

Puppy Visitors: Open House

MadisonWe had many visitors today.  The Sloan’s came by to see the puppies.  I think Erin liked Hershey and Flipper because of their mostly black masks and Janelle was really fond of Spot with his large white stripes.   Gayla and Madison came by today too and Madison said she liked Spot and Flipper the best.  Brian and Sheila made their 2nd visit to see how they are growing.  I think Brian needs a dog to “play with” the cats he has at his house.   The weather was nice today and I would not be surprised if we get more puppy visitors today.

Feeling your Oats?

spot with oatmealSome of the pups are now with smaller teeth..  Carmella is a little reluctant to feed with these little tiger’s biting at her so I decided to make up some puppy food.  This Bonaboxer Puppy Food Recipe includes Nutro puppy food, Oatmeal and Bonaboxer Puppy Milk.  I believe I hit perfection quickly as the first batch disappeared faster than it took to make it.  The key was to let the dry Nutro food become totally moist so it could be mashed into the other ingredients.  How did it taste?  My guess would be Dogfood flavored oatmeal.  Pictured is Spot taking his first taste.  Some of the puppies were feet first into this bowl.
